Can someone tell me in their opinion if our website would be better off from a customer's point of view with clearer navigation, better illustrations for thumbnails so the slogan text is obvious and useful search facility even if it means a plainer looking site. We have been thinking of re-doing the website for the above reasons for a few months now but I am hesitant as it will be a big job and I actually really love our website! Cons of website now *Search facility is next to useless *Navigation isn't intuitive and it is mostly likely too confusing for newcomers. *We want to have thumbnails that are basically a coloured box (to represent the t shirt colour) with the slogan rather than the current thumbnails to make the slogans easier to read without drilling down to individual product pages. Pros: *Good SEO *Looks great (I think so anyway!) *Already done! I will be doing it myself (which I can do as far as xhtml/html, css, basic php and using roman cart for the shopping cart) and paying someone to do it is not an option! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Sharon
I really like your website already, I personally think the navigation is fine. But you are correct about the search function it also took me a while to find it. Thanks Carl, I really appreciate it. I have looked on loads of competitors websites and there is a whole range of different styles and designs and varying degrees of professionalism. I might see if I can find a better search programme and perhaps offer a sitemap or something with simpler navigation for the easily confused! The only other problem is the thumbnails. There is no way in cubecart to have different thumbnails from the main images-well no way I can find on the cubecart forums. Can you tell I am trying to put off redoing the whole site-I just know its going to be a big job Sharon
I think your website design is very good. Looks appealing and certainly made me spend time having a nose around. However I do agree with Carl on the Search facility, it seems to be a fairly large site so an easy search facility should definitely be on the cards. Also if you want the navigation to be clearer how about making the text colour different and maybe move the 'card' its sitting on move in front of the one on the right. I hope you get me on that one :wacko: Also I love the Computer T-Shirts, they are definitely something my mum might buy me for xmas! :funny:
