Not sure if this is the correct forum. I am hoping to get Adobe soon (I have never used it before) and I was wondering if anyone can direct me to any decent sites that give tutorials on how to create stuff like desktop wallpapers and forum signature pictures (like below) Merci guys
May I congratulate you on your deceision to move over to photoshop, you'll never look back. In terms of tutorials it all depends on what sort of effects you want to use on the wallpapers and sigs. I have had this page bookmarked for some time: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshoptutorials/Essential_Tutorials_for_Photoshop_ImageReady.htm It lists loads of tutorials on the different effects you can use in photoshop. Once you get it have a play around with the effects and once you find one you like goto this site to find out more.
I have Photoshop 7 it's a few years old now, I can't get to grips with it still, so I use Macromedia/Adobe Fireworks. But then again I only do very basic graphics.
I teach Multimedia at a local Art College and use Photoshop almost every day, I tell my students that the trick is to use it and any new techniques you learn as often as possible. before too long you are doing things in photoshop without really thinking about them. P.S Get to know the shortcut keys too
Yep I use the shortcut keys no end in photoshop: Ctrl + H - Bounding Box Shft + Drag Mouse button when resizing to keep aspect ratio Ctrl + Drag Mouse button to move corner of image Plus loads more! :cap:
You can also download itunes and subscribe to loads of podcasts and videocasts for photoshop too. You can't view the appleshop without itunes i don't think.
Limewire! Only joking that would be illegal and I don't recommend it. See whats going on eBay though there might be some good deals on there but be careful with who sells it. The software may or may not be legal and you could fork out loads for nothing. Also try Amazon, I have heard they are pretty cheap too.
what is the best photosop to get for making desktop wallpapers and forum signature pictures and stuff? there seem to be various versions of it
Well any version of Photoshop I guess but I would recommend V7+. I have Photoshop CS and it is very good for making images for the web, desktop wallpapers and signatures. You do have to get used to it tho
