Hi,
Verisign, the organisation in charge of .com & .net transfers have announced implementation of Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP), the language registrars communicate to registries. TLD's already using EPP includes .INFO, .ORG, and .MOBI.
This means to transfer a .com or .net domain from one registrar to another now, the Losing/Old registrar will have to provide a transfer key (called an EPP). This key is given to the new registrar and allows the transfer to take place. The .biz and .org domain registries have used this system for a long time now and it does improve the transfer process and speed transfers can be made in. ;)
