Secure folders vs PHP & MySQL login

Can anyone tell me the advantages/disadvantages of the two?

I'm trying to work out which is best for my admin sections

Secure Folders.... theres probably always going to be a way around script related secure areas.

Do secure folders work ok with subdomains?

I have added a subdomain and secured the folder, but it isn't asking for a username or password

At the moment if you want a sub-domain setup as a secure folder, you need to send a support ticket and we have to do it manually. Or you can add the subdomain as a "full" domain in Helm.
