Accountancy & Book-Keeping

Does any body know of a cheap and (would prefare free) simple accountancy package? or even better a asp/php script?

I am currently recording on a spreadsheet but it is not perfect and just wanted something a little more professional without it being OTT.

I just want to be able to record money out,money in with a list of suppliers and customers. I have downloaded and installed TurboCash but it is way over the top for what I need.

I have also looked at some of the access templates but again they seem to be a little indepth for what is required.

I don't really want to write one from scratch if i can avoid it but I know I will have to keep Mr Taxman happy soon.

Any ideas? :blink:

We personally use QuickBooks Professional (http://quickbooks.intuit.com/) but as we were getting much bigger I decided it was time for a bookkeeper as I didn't really have the time to do accounts.

The good thing is, my bookkeeper also uses Quickbooks and sends me my data file each month and I just import it into my own Quickbooks software and I can get a load of reports, it's really good.

Our bookkeeper is really cheap too, compared to the others out there.

Had a quick look around ebay for a cheaper copy and then had a good look elsewhere.

Found an Open Source piece of Kit called jGnash - brilliant!

Does the job income/outcome (all split into different accounts to keep a track of what I am spending in different areas). It is built in Java and runs from a stand alone .exe. I have this on a Flash drive so can keep on top were ever I go.

Several built in reports that can output pdf. csv or text. Even has a full profit and loss report. Very simple and easy to use - if you are keeping accounts (eBay or reseller) and need a simple method try this - really recommended:crazy:
