Hi

I run a web design business and due to some recent problems and concerns with my existing host am looking to gradually move all my clients' domains, websites, and email accounts over to a new more reliable host. Have been exchanging emails with Carl who has been very helpful, and I have good feelings about CSNM, but before I finally commit I would welcome feedback from any of CSNM's existing customers on your experiences.

I'm interested to hear what you find are the typical response times to support tickets (as my current host is getting slower and slower in responding!) and how well you feel any issues or requests are dealt with.

Also, Carl gave me the link to view the uptime stats (http://www.siteuptime.com/stat.php?UserId=69411 ) but that doesnt really give me the full picture as to how long any downtime incidents lasted, as some may have been insignificant, or during the night for planned maintenance. He's told me about the DDOS attack in August and the MySQL4 server hardware failure in September. No problems there - that can happen to any host.

I'm more interested to get feedback in general terms, apart from those two events, as to how much actual downtime you might have noticed for your sites or email over the past year or two (particularly during business hours), and how quickly any problems have been resolved; as that would give me a better idea how good the perceived uptime etc is likely to be for my clients should I make the move.

I look forward to any feedback on here, (or you can email me directly if you prefer)

Thanks
Gareth

Gareth,

A couple of threads from another forum you might want to take a look at:

In terms of downtime, it isn't 99.999% uptime - that's because there are regular updates and improvement to the system - Normally at some ungodly hour of the night....:D. Apart from that, uptime is great. Only a couple of hitches (like you said can happen to any host) but Carl has normally dealt with them before I even know about them.

Support: I once submitted a ticket at 11pm on a Saturday night - I got a reply 10 minutes later. Absolutely fantastic. I would dare to say you wont wait longer than an hour for your support ticket to be replied to (including in the middle of the night as Carl doesn't sleep - EVER)!!!

On a serious note: Service is great, couldn't ask for anything more. Certainly the best decision I made switching to CSNM!

Hi Gareth,

You should not have any doubts about purchasing a reseller package from CSNM as being a web designer myself have found no problems at all. Even if I have a problem I will send a ticket and it will be responded to within the hour, usually in under 20 mins.

As for downtime, I have not experienced any at all that cannot be accounted for by CSNM. If there is going to be schedualed downtime, or there is a problem with one of the servers or datacentre then we are all informed as soon as possible via the forums and status site.

I for one are very happy with CSNM and will happly host with them for as long as I need to.

Hope this helps in decided on a tough decision, I've been in your shoes before and since being with CSNM I've never looked back :thumbup1:

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I can't see I've got any excuse not to sign up now! :D

Meanwhile, I've a question about this forum. I set it so I got instant email notification to replies on my threads, but none have come through by email. I've checked my spam filter and there were none there, so it appears the email notifications are not working. Any thoughts??

Hmm, that's weird. I got notification for this one but the only other emails I've received today from support@csnewmedia.co.uk were the activation and welcome emails when I registered on the forum at around 12:30pm. Have re-checked my mail logs and definitely no other notifications have appeared.

Oh well, it's working now, so not an issue

It's possible it's a setting in the forum I've not turned on. Not quite sure but everything looks OK.

Gareth,

Like you I am looking to port a reseller account to CSNM and I am 95% convinced. When I can have a guarantee that ASP PDF will be available early next year, I will be signing up. Apart from not being able to find anything bad about CSNM on the Web, one big plus is the offer to help port my existing Reseller Account.

Carl has ticked all of the bozes for me so far!

Are you a disgruntled FastHosts customer like me?

...and yes - the "Kevin Says" in the story is me. I had a couple of days of grief from Customers, and I was a lucky one who changed my Control Panel password when the original warning came in.

Kevin Russell

Blimy, that's deadly serious. What would CSNM do if that happened to their network? I mean I can agree with fast hosts policy by immediately resetting passwords as if you left it days afterwards most accounts could be compromised but then again hundreds of website would be shut down because of this.

Serious stuff

Is ASP PDF going to be installed then?

If so, that's great news :-)

It's on my list of new things, but not going to be available until Jan/Feb 2008.

Good enough for me!

I think Carl is signing up a lot of new Resellers because of the FastHosts fiasco. The reason I am here is that another Reseller recommended CSNM on the Comments of the Story (link posted above).

Ah well, in for a penny...
