Hi,
I would like some advice please. I use win. xp and OE6.
I have been using SpamAware as my spam filter. It was great but over the last week it has caused everything to run very slowly.
I uninstalled and reinstallled it. No change.
I sent a support question to them and they replied that they hope to sort it out in a future version.
Can anyone suggest an alternative preferably free and effective spam filter?
thanks,
Ray

Do you mean Email Spam filter? I receive my email through outlook and I have a list of keywords to block. If an email comes in with the word 'pills' in the subject or body it deletes it without me even knowing.

Yes I do mean email spam filtering.
I also block a number of key words but they keep inventing new variations on the spelling.
SpamAware was great. It picked up about 95% of these and simply put them into my spam folder. Then when I had time I could quickly glance through the folder and delete.
But as I said recently it started slowing the whole system down.

What is wrong with the spam filtering we provide?

Hi Carl,
As always what you provides works wonderfully. Absolutly no complaint. However it arrives in my inbox marked as spam. I would prefer it to go to a spam folder so all I see is my real mail then once a day I could sort through the spam folder and delete them.

Where can I purchase a working brain?
I have just realised all I need to do is set up a rule that if the subject line contains Spam High or Spam Med move it to the spam folder.
This then takes advantage of your filtering.
Sorry brain was not working.

Glad you have it sorted now Ray. I setup up my own rules also, so that I can block domains too.

What would be good. Is something that looks into the header of the email and find out what country it originates from. My old freeserve account gets about 150 emails a day from Russia, China and South Africa. Most are caught by the spam filter but would be a good addin to auto flag as spam if from a certain country....
Reason i mention this is that spammers are attaching pdf's now contain there info where unfortunately some scanners don't pick up certain keywords :(
