Anyone using Subtext? (http://subtextproject.com/)

If so how are you finding it in regards to

administration
custom add-ons
skinningAny feedback would be appreciated as I just don't have the time to finish my one off that powers my website. :(

Never heard of it, looks quite decent though.

I've always used Wordpress.

I've always used Wordpress.

I installed wordpress the other day- no problems (only took like 3 steps!)

I'm happy with how it works, the admin side is great and I believe it is easy to skin-(admittedly I have been using a template though..)

PHP but meh what can you do? Port to asp.net

Have you tried it yet? I'd be interested to know how you find it, I myself do most things in .net but my blogging software has to be wordpress too.

Yeah have been playing about with it. You can find it

http://subtext.mydevarea.co.uk

I am in the middle of transferring my current design into a theme so my site will look the same and act the same just with subtext powering it :)

I have "tweaked" one of the themes it comes with to look how it looks now. Above will change in about a week once my proper them has been completed

Looks good, I'm currently using Wordpress but would like to use a .net one! How easy is it to customise? Masterpages?

Don't forget to get IE7 working this time (it seems ok atm!)

I like how you go to Aviemore, I have family there so sometimes go up there!

However my only experience snow boarding there was in 55mph gusts...

it's all css and one master page. You'll notice it change quite a bit over the next couple of days as i am converting my current design Si Philp (http://www.siphilp.co.uk) into a subtext theme. It's very easy to do. I am only working with IE 6 and FF right now. Will do a style sheet for IE 7 when i get a chance at home :)

Aviemore isn't my fav resort. I much prefer Nevis, lots of fun ;)

Sounds good, I personally think everything should be made from masterpages and CSS, the world would be a better place :D

If you have been using a master page for you site then converting it will be easier than starting from scratch :)

If you go for it and run into any problems let me know see if I can help you out :)

Looked at it in IE7 OMG. Think I will fine tune it for IE 6 and FF for now and then go for IE7.

Thanks for the offer, I'll battle on with wordpress and a pre-made theme for now, but when I want to customise it I think subtext will be my choice!

What's the admin like?

Yes IE7  I usually find it happens in reverse for me, it usually goes:

Works in IE7 > Kinda Works in IE6 > Doesn't Work in Firefox

However the firefox issue I usually find myself in is omitting margin: auto out...

Admin area is very simple. Nothing over complicated.

Have attached 2 screens one of the admin area in general and a Screen of the wysiwyg(you have a choice of 3 thats setup in the web.config) that handles your blog/article posts.

Am tempted to download the source code and implement a better gallery component using Flickr api. This is already on subtexts roadmap but will be a while i think before an official release :(

Just an update. Ben I am really impressed with this software to the point that my personal website will be updated tonight with what's on mydevarea link.

I have had to change parts of the source code i.e. gallery thumbnails now work off lightbox. Better explaination on the post below:

http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1696182&forum_id=464968

I know the theme isn't 100% but it's not that far away so i decided just to go for it. I can see this Engine going from strength to strength.

There are a couple of other .net blogging engines each bringing there own little difference but I would recommend subtext :)

stay safe

Yeah I think I'll maybe move across to it eventually, I'm kinda happy with my wordpress theme atm, but when I want it to fit in with the business better I'll move over! No rush but it would be nice, specially since .net is my fav lang... :D

Thanks for the update!
