<span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="font-size:10pt;line-height:100%"> Hi,

First of all it's an easy website to navigate, has the information there which the user wants style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

I do have some suggestions/further feedback:

Background Colour: - I feel that your site would work better with a plain white background. Use of whitespace always works well.

Menu: - How about using some software to create a 'proper' menu using something like Xara or OpenCube menu creator?

Images: - Link your banner, so when it's clicked it takes the user to the homepage.

Custom System Builder: - How about learning ASP or PHP and actually building a dynamic 'custom system builder'? This will give the user a direct quote much easier than waiting for an email back. They could then from here order the system. </span></span><span style="font-family:Verdana"><span style="font-size:10pt;line-height:100%">
<span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">(CS New Media does offer website development php/asp work at affordable prices!) </span>

Online Store - In the future, even now, you should think about setting up an online shop, you would be surprised how many people prefer to do things online. There is many free excellent 'Shopping Carts' available.

Hope this helps! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Unlike carl i'm afraid i couldnt really say what i think as you would no doubt take offence - many people ask for comments and then take the hump if its not what they want to hear .

While carls suggestion of learning php or asp is a good idea - i reckon you need to learn more about building websites and the actual web design process first as scripting skills are totally different from web design skills & wont really help you much if you dont have have a certain amount of layout or colour scheme flair .

Mind you my own websites arnt that good and what the hell do i know .

Thanks for your comments, I agree that I need to learn more about the basics of web design - not a very creative person!!!!!

Any pointers on how to create a better site would be useful! and no offence will be taken!!!

Would it not be best to say what you don't like so Peter can work further on improving?

Thats another reason why i tend not to answer comment requests :-)

Its not upto me or anybody else what you do or dont do on your own website .

Tinkering around and expermenting for x amount of time is the only real way you will learn and/or improve your web skills .

If anybody is wondering where the virus data is coming from see this link:
http://www.trendmicro.com/map/

Your main content would be more readable if the background was white opposed to grey which would also help the virus information you borrowed style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif blend in as if you created it.

My IP address is not 62.254.64.18 so you may want to consider a better method of checking IP addresses, since you are a web designer I will presume you know how to do this.

I do not understand why a few pages have a navigation bar informing visitors of their current location within your website where as other pages do not. You either have one for every page (which is what I would have done) or you just scrap the idea.

You have a missing page:
http://www.g2computers.co.uk/sent.html (Sent to from http://www.g2computers.co.uk/custombuiltsystems.htm)

There are such things as lists in the world of web design too by the way, quoting from http://www.g2computers.co.uk/networking.htm:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>* Sharing of an Internet Connection
* Sharing of data
* Printer Sharing
* Instant Messaging[/b][/quote]

Enough of the bad points, I am just being a bully. You have done a lot of things correct such as not having huge text on your pages, all the text I came across was aligned to the centre which I was glad to see as normally in these cases people just align text... left, right and centre. (I had to crack that joke.)

I run a web design agency so my standards are high, impressing me is hard but I can see you tried and put some thought into your website.

Will change that.....

Matt: Many thanks for your opinions, have taken them onboard............

I sent you a price for the system you wanted the quote for, that was before I realised you had done it to test the form........... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Thanks Again!

I was actually seeing how much you would charge for a system almost identical to mine. For the sake of comparison, I built my computer system (had to do a bit of electronics to save costs) for £460, of which the majority of the cost was my 19" LCD TFT monitor with a built-in TV tuner and screen resolution of 1280x1024.

I have not checked yet but I will look later at the website and see if I can help out a bit more.

Peter, do you have a local library you can get books out of because your actual building of websites does appear to be okay but it is the design that is letting your work down.

I picked up a book from my library the other day and it was published in 1997. The book is actually really good, just a quick glance through taught me how to use colour effectivly and when I say that I do not mean the basics such as a white background for content, such things as scattered colours, directing attention and other such things.

See if you can get hold of "Web Design & Desktop Publishing for Dummies." It is writting by Roger C. Parker and published by IDG Books.

The problem with directly telling you what to do will not make you learn from your mistakes and you will not develop your own style.

I like the use of books because rather than reading through the whole lot, I just flick through to see if anything interests me and usually I remember new things then and from there I look into other things that I then find interesting. This is how I develop my skills as well as doing free work to gain experience.

Peter,

I've just came across this:
http://www.mkidesigns.com/ecom/scripts/pro...sp?idproduct=16 (http://www.mkidesigns.com/ecom/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=16)

It looks right up your road! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I've noticed you have made a few changes Peter, it look's better.

I think you should try a white background though! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif

Many thanks for the link to the Custom PC configurator.

Think I will try a white background and see what it looks like..............

No problem - it's bit expensive for what it does I think.

If you really want something email sales and I will get Nick to give you a quote, it should be a lot cheaper than the one on the site. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
