Some info from the MS website:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Beta 1 is a preview release of the latest version of the .NET Framework. Many ISV’s, enterprises and Microsoft product teams are successfully building on the new features Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows CardSpace in the .NET Framework 3.0. Microsoft plans to continue to invest in the .NET Framework developer platform and in support of existing users the .NET Framework 3.5 has a minimal number of breaking changes. So that existing applications built for .NET Framework 2.0 or .NET Framework 3.0 should continue to run without requiring changes. The .NET Framework 3.5 adds new features in several major technology areas; including:
Deep integration of Language Integrated Query (LINQ) and data awareness
ASP.NET AJAX for quickly creating more efficient, more interactive and highly-personalized Web experiences that work across all the most popular browsers
New web protocol support for building WCF services including AJAX, JSON, REST, POX, RSS, ATOM and several new WS-* standards
Full tooling support for WF, WCF and WPF including the new workflow-enabled services technology
New classes in the base class library (BCL) for the .NET Framework 3.5 address the most common customer requests..NET Framework 3.5 is planned to release at the end of 2007 and will ship with Visual Studio code name ”Orcas” and will also continue to be available for separate download from MSDN.

Yeah looks like the b0ll0x. but I try stay away from beta's involving the .net framework as Microsoft tend to change the goal posts when they officially launch it. For MSDN subscribers you can download the full ISO :)

Might slap it on a virtual drive see how it performs. Coming down at 5585KB/sec so 10 min wait.

Has anyone installed and used it yet?

That's exactly my plan. Going to try it out on a VPC image first, before risking it on my desktop

Now that MS have announced that asp.net 3.5 and vs2008 will be released by the end of november can Carl give us an indication how much time after release will be needed for CSNM to test it before allowing it onto their servers?

Unless there is a major problem during our testing, hopefully a few days after release.

Microsoft have released VS2008 and .Net Framework 3.5, as usual the express versions are free and can be downloaded now from msdn.microsoft.com/express. Of course we will have to wait until Carl installs .Net Framework 3.5 on the servers until we can go live with the new features but at least you can start developing now.

.Net 3.5 is now available on all windows web servers, it has been since Wednesday but I've not had chance to send a newsletter out yet.

You need to choose the "ASP.net 2.0" option from Website Settings in Helm to use .net 3.5.

Have been using VWD Express 2008 for over a week now, and just about all the frustrations I had with 2005 have been resolved, the editor is much better you can see the code and the page at the same time now, also the CSS handling is soooo much better and it produces much better xhtml.

Am installing VS 2008 now. Taking ages :angry

They say VS 2005 and 2008 can run happily on the same machine and i hope that's true.

Anyone got anything developed yet?
