To give you some background, SilverLight is similar to Macromedia Flash, but what makes it really interesting is that Silverlight 1.1 alpha has support for a subset of .NET code. This means you'll be able to use C# & VB, not only this but JavaScript, IronRuby (which is new itself), and Python.
