Hi All,
A client of mine has requested that they get a SMS Text Message for emails on a certain account.
With my previous host, 1&1 (who are crap and I hate!!) they had an SMS notification service for emails. I don't suppose CS New Media (who I'm really impressed with since changing over a few months back) would consider introducing a service like this, would they?
Or if someone knows of a simular service, else where, I'd be grateful to know about it?
Many thanks in advance and kind regards,
Rich

Hi Richard,
Unfortunately our mail server does not support this function, and it's not something we have ever been asked for ourselves.
To be honest I can't see the mail server developers adding this function, as it would need something to send the SMS (a network provider which costs) and surely if the email account with SMS notification in question received spam it would send un-needed SMS notifications?
We do have a ASP-SMS which can send SMS text messages from a script:

The only thing I can suggest is add the email account to the mobile phone as most phones now offer this?

Thanks for your reply Carl.
To be honest I never used it with 1&1 either and kind of thought it was a crap idea, but isn't it typical that when you don't have something anymore you need it ;-)
Anyway, I spoke to the client again and it's only so they know when they get a payment through thier site, so ASPSMS should do the job just fine. Thanks for this suggestion, I'll give it a go and see how it works.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
Rich

I had this com up and running a while. Set it up so when somebody left a message via a site it would send a text to let me know. fairly easy to set up and plenty of ready made scripts on the site. When you register you get 20 free texts but you do need to pay for them after that!

No problem Carl, I'll let you know.
Thanks Mark, I'll probably have a go tomorrow/Monday sometime.

Thanks again to everyone who replied to this post.
I forgot to update you on setting up an sms alert using aspsms, so sorry for my late reply.
It's a doddle to setup and works pretty well.
The client is happy too, so that's the main thing.
I've also set it up with a simple form, so I can send the odd SMS from my company name instead of a mobile number. Not sure how/if I'll use it, but thought why not as I was playing with aspsms.
If it's useful, my code is in .net 2.0 vb and I don't mind sharing it if anyone wants it. If you do, just reply to this post and I'll post it for you when I next have a spare min or two.
Cheers,
Rich

Hi Rich,
I am thinking of doing something similar with SMS and would really appreciate a look at your code. Thanks for the offer.
