All of a suddent paypals don't seem to want to send me emails??
Bit of a pain as I am reliant on that as a trigger to tell me if I have a new customer who has actually paid?
Checked my spam settings etc but all seems to be fine.
Anyone else had a similar problem or idea?

Not sure as I have not had payment via PayPal in ages.
Feel free to test by sending me some money via PayPal and I will let you know if I get a mail :tounge:

I receive a few hundred a week so I doubt it's our end.
Try checking your PayPal settings for the notifications just incase something isn't ticked.

Mark,
Maybe you should set up some sort of backup system, just in case.
Perhaps you could put a crafy redirect in just before someone sends payment, which takes them to a php or asp script, which ever you prefer (php hint, hint, much better) which sends an email to you saying "someone has gone to paypal" then you can check to see if they have completed the payment through the paypal website. Just to make doubly sure you dont miss a new signup.
You dont want your customer service rating to diminish!

Has anyone been able to send money via paypal recently?
Whether it's for an ebay auction or even CSNM webhosting (Carl are you still receiving payments from customers)
Apparently a glitch has meant every UK Verified member has had their sending limit set to zero.
I've made a couple of purchases for my girlfriends birthday and it's steadily approaching but I can't pay for them
Any one else having any problems?
I've checked various paypal forums and it isn't looking too good
Thanks!
Ben
p.s. it's times like this I wish I had a cheque book...

We have had some payments this morning, all fine.
Do you have a link to this info Ben?

Apparently payments can be sent from non-verified accounts fine, but as most people are verified that doesn't help. Were your payments this morning from verified?
Paypal have not released an official statement but:
http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=1100073468&start=0
and google- http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=en-GB&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-32,GGLJ:en-GB&q=%22This+payment+cannot+be+funded+with+a+credit+c ard+at+this+time%22
This is the error that I am getting, along with many others.
Thanks
Ben

I had to phone them up and they said they will mainly lift the sending limit.
They confirmed it was a glitch in the system, however they have no idea when it will be fixed.
So anyone else having problems should give them a call- 08707 307 191.
Hopefully it shouldn't take too long, I find it terrible how they haven't annouced this problem at all.

I have been looking at a few API scripts do this as it is a suggestion. Just had a a payment made from a customer - I had nearly emailed them to say their account was overdue as again no mail from paypal!!

Have you reported this to PayPal Mark? I've found their support to be excellent.

Must admit I haven't. My last dealings with them was over an ebay claim and they were useless. Might drop them a line though

Might take you up on that Nick. Never really played with PHP but may be a nice start. You never know could be a sellable script for you?

OK now PayPal are doing my head in! I requested money to be transferred into my BA on Weds and it still isn't in my account. I've sent an email to support but they haven't replied
Nor have I received a confirmation email to say it has been completed. Apparently is has according to my PayPal login page.
Anyone else having trouble?

What time did you do it?
I did a transfer on Thursday afternoon, it should be in tomorrow or Thursday. It does take 5-7 days.
They don't send email confirmations to say it's completed - you get one as soon as you transfer the funds but that's it.

I didn't even get an email to say I had started the transfer.

I think PayPal have REALLY messed up at the moment. They're really going to have to answer some serious questions. I mean if their system has glitches in it how safe are our accounts?

Not Very!
I phoned them up again and said that they need to sort it out!
and whilst on the phone they did!
Emailing them is a waste of time, you have to call to get results!
However they sent me an email today saying my sending limit has been reduced again until I add a bank account...
I have already set all this up.
Nochex and ironically cheques her I come!

Cheques clear the same day for me, the only problem is having to go to the bank.
I can't wait until our WorldPay is live!
Ben Collier

I've been fiddling with Worldpay the past fortnight for a client, it is remarkably easy and if I had the funds would gladly set myself an account up!
Carl how have you managed to get cheques to clear the same day?
Some special account or something, or a dodgy back alley Cheques cashed here place?!
I have to wait a whole 3 working days for mine!
I'm with halifax and they have a nice little machine that you stick a wad of them in and it scans them all and gets the amounts- automation in a useful form!

Carl how have you managed to get cheques to clear the same day?
My question too..
I think I might look at other ways of allowing people to send a payment to me, besides if there's more ways to pay it's easier for the end user.
Ben Collier

Well even with cheques clearing the same day you still have to wait for them to be sent to you.
Personally I would set an account up once I have the cheque in hand, then if it bounces I'll inform the buyer, and if they fail to pay after 30 days the account will be closed.
I won't lose anything that way! Whilst still maintaining a quick fast service.
